No tsunami was triggered by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck early Wednesday in waters off Indonesia.

The earthquake occurred at 4:34 a.m. Hawaii time within the Molucca Sea near the island of Halmahera, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. It had a registered depth of about 40 miles.

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat of tsunami to Hawaii.
